top projects of 2011

December 28, 2011 By Linda 42 Comments

Yes, I’ve only been blogging for two months, so it would seem that my ‘top projects of 2011’ list would be scarce … but truth be told, I’ve been working on the projects I’ve been blogging about all year long …

… so let’s move on to my favorites …

Who doesn’t love a good before and after, right?  It’s like getting caught by the diy world paparazzi with no makeup, messy hair, paint stained jeans, and dirty, chipped fingernails.  Oh, wait a minute.  That’s how we always look …

Okay, image then Angelina Jolie getting caught by the paparazzi with no makeup, messy hair, paint stained jeans, and dirty fingernail.  That’s the equivalent of how much us home décor voyeurs are drawn to ‘before and after’ posts …

In my short time blogging, I’ve shared a couple of ‘I can’t believe I’m airing our dirty laundry for all the world to see’ doozies …

… like the entry before and after here …

entry beforeentry after
… and here’s the entry dressed up for the holidays (you can find the full holiday home tour here …)

… and the front porch disaster before and after here …

frontporch.beforelongshot (600x450)front porch after dressed up (600x450)

… and then, of course, the ‘it really did all start with paint’ kitchen before and after here …

… and then there were a few projects that received a great response – and quite a few features — like the post that started it all, the chalkboard door tutorial here …

chalkboarddoor.wideshot (2) (640x616)

… painted on porch rug here …

Painted Porch for Blog 2 (600x450) (2)[4]

… and batty Halloween door décor here…

bats on door(600x450)

I’ll cap off the top projects of 2011 with the monogrammed drop cloth pillow — (that I showed you how I made here) — that my teenage niece swears she loves … and that no, really, I haven’t turned into a batty old aunt who hand makes hideous presents for her nieces and nephews …

I’m so glad I came across your blog (via the Shabby Creek Cottage) – even though you’ve only been blogging about your projects for 2 mos, it’s very obvious that you have more experience then that in your decor and renovation abilities. Everything you’ve done is stunning – thanks so much for sharing. I’m a newly addicted follower – can’t wait to see more! Best of luck in 2012.
