Inspired by … Spring

I am under no illusion that Spring will arrive anytime soon in Chicago. Not when the wind chills are clocking in at below zero as I type this …

In fact, Spring in Chicago is an oxymoron. It’s a fleeting event. Arriving in bits and spurts. A warm day here. A sunny week there. Interspersed with snow. Or frost. Faking out the tulips. Just when they think it’s safe to peek out from under their winter beds of earth, a spate of cold cuts them off.

Sigh.

At least we can count on spectacular Indian Summers.

So for now, we have to rely on grocery store tulips to keep our Spring dreaming alive …

They are a perfect addition to my daughter’s new room mini remodel (which I have yet to share here but will soon; finishing touches are being attended to!). But when we stumbled across an aqua metal side table at IKEA a few weeks ago, it set a very Spring-like vibe in her new space.

And can I just share that I got a little teary eyed when she requested some painted and distressed mason jars for her room?

Who knew?

I’m so happy she doesn’t think of me as that reclusive, crazy woman whose always painting and sanding mason jars in the basement. And wrangling with bubble wrap and shipping tape and packing peanuts  in the living room …

😉

Now if you, like me, need to be reminded on this wintry Saturday that Spring is just a few weeks away, then I have some very Springy eye candy for you from my blogging friends. Just follow the links to be inspired …

The tulips in that jar are perfection!! (I wonder if you got the same Aqua side table I have in my guest room?)

There is nothing more sweet and springlike to me than tulips – and if some of them nod and bend their heads, like yours, so much the better! I love the color that your chose. It’s looks wonderful in the aqua mason jar. And your photography is so perfect!

Is there anyone who does Mason Jars as good as you? Maybe, but not in my book. I love the pop of red against the aqua. I bet this is pretty with your daughter’s newly decorated room.

I”m not a person that’s crazy about roses, ok shoot me, Iove tulips, daffs, forsythias, things like that. Lilies too. We had lots of all those in our yards in KY and I miss it so much. Can hardly grow grass in our alkali yards here. Can’t live in KY climate but so much I loved there. At least oldest son doesn’t live there anymore but grandsons still do with their Mom. Been long time since we saw them except on Facebook
I learned about tete-a-tetes in KY, everybody was always talking about tete-a-tetes so I finally asked what they were, duh, they’re mini daffs. They grow wild all over the place there, figures. Bet my hydrangea plant will bloom like crazy too unless people that bought house from us first ruined it. They ruined so much in that house. That was a horror story.
I feel so bad for all you folks that live in mid west to east coast, what a nightmare winter you’re having. Who wouldn’t want spring to come. Some years it’s weird here, we have winter then summer, no spring to speak of. I enjoy Fall cause usually we have nice warm days, cool evenings, the mosquitos go away.
Better go see if I can install this printer on old 7.0 pc, see if I can get it right, never got it installed correctly on new 8.1 pc. Such fun trying to educate this old brain. duh. Happy week Linda Try to stay warm.
