Living Room Reveal – Fall Living Room Decor in Burgundy, Brown, Mustard, Gray.

Hello and welcome to all my fellow fall lovers out there!

Yes, yes, I realize that fall technically ends with that last bite of the leftover Thanksgiving turkey sandwich.

And while every other blogger and online magazine out there is busy, busy, busy putting up crafts and decorating ideas for the Christmas season, I’m still relishing my love of all things fall.
For now.

Trust me, trees, wreaths and twinkle lights are going up in the condo as you read this. 😉

But back to fall.
For now.

Now there are some out there who do not share my love of fall (looking at you, my husband Mike). These fall doubters see the season as foreboding. A foreshadowing of what’s to come …
a stepping stone to winter.
And they get wrapped up in the inevitable cold and blustery and gray and snowy winter days that proceed fall.

And yes, I am looking out my window right now at a blustery and gray and snowy winter day.

But back to fall.
For now.
I see fall as time of hope. And change.
It’s a changing of the guard. Not to mention a changing of our wardrobes from shorts and t’s to cozy sweaters and cardigans. 😉
I love cozy sweaters and cardigans and have a closet filled to the brim with them!

This fall season had been particularly wonderful.
Right on up to that pre-Thanksgiving winter storm, that is. 🙂
But my wonderful, unseasonably warm fall started with a trip back east for my nephew’s wedding. Followed by a few days exploring New York City.

A month later I enjoyed an amazing staycation in Chicago. My friends from California came to visit and I planned five days of sightseeing, boat rides and great food.
Oh, and we stayed in an amazing hotel right on the river. The views – day and night – were spectacular!

And one of the best moments of the trip was when my talented friend gifted me with a handmade quilt she made. Just for me!

Isn’t she gorgeous? And perfectly fall-ish!

I love my new handmade quilt so very much that I’m planning to style my Christmas decor this year around her beautiful burgundy, brown and mustard colors.

She deserves more than one season to remain draped over our super comfy Crate & Barrel Barrett sectional sofa. 🙂

Oh, and this view no longer looks like this:

It’s now filled with snowy fields and bare trees and icy blue waters of the lake.
A perfect backdrop to say a final goodbye to fall …
and to finally embrace all things Winter and Christmas.

Can I just take a moment to rave about this vintage cow canvas art? I purchased it from this seller on Etsy and it is perfection in this space. Plus it’s a homage to Mike’s career working with dairy farmers. A job that sustained our family and our home and now our retirement in our amazing new Chicago condo on Lake Shore Drive! 🙂
