Yes, you read that headline correctly.
We.
Sold.
The.
House.
For reals.

The house which turned me into the boy who cried wolf. Okay, more like the old woman who cried wolf. 😉
Because, as those of you who’ve hung around here for awhile know, I’ve been threatening to sell the house since the genesis of this blog.
In fact, the reason I turned “our home” into “my canvas” (see what I did there?) is because I knew it would be sold as a tear down.
Spoiler alert: It was in fact sold as a tear down.

But my threats to sell for the past 14(!) years was met time and time again with an abundance of barriers.
First, moving while the kids were in college felt wrong. The idea of dropping them off from one house and bringing them back to a new house felt … well … wrong.

So we stayed put. For eight (plus) years.

Then there was our beloved Ernie (RIP). He passed a little over a year ago. It broke my heart and I still haven’t been able to bring myself to blog a little tribute to that funny little pup.

But It felt … well … wrong to move an old dog to a new house.
You know, that teaching old dogs new tricks thing.
Plus our plan was to move to a condo. Which poses any number of dog-owning obstacles. Like the walk schedule, especially in the winter. And not all condos permit pets.

But when all the obstacles disappeared, it was time to finally plug the trigger. Which we did in early January as our home was literally breaking down around us. I’ll spare the gory details but there was some water involved. And a garage that we prayed could withstand a potential snowstorm. Or heavy rain.
But once we made the choice to really, really sell, it all came together very, very quickly.
The house was sold and we put a bid on a condo in the span of a few weeks.
We closed early March. And moved in early April.

We lived for the first few weeks in a bit of a chaotic construction zone. And there’s more construction in our future (the bathrooms need serious work).
But it’s all coming together. And in the meantime, I’ll start sharing some inspiration boards for the rooms soon …
followed by pics of the quasi-finished place.
I mean, aren’t our homes always a work in progress?

Oh, and I let the professionals work on this canvas.
Our new-to-us circa 1970’s condo is definitely not a tear down. 😉
LInda, sad as I am, I sense the timing was perfect and without a doubt, your new abode will be filled with inspiration and love. I have followed you for literally years, I sense it was around the time you started blogging about paint..( which you inspired me to do many times) . No matter where you lay your head if you are surrounded by those you love it is HOME.
Thank you so much for your kind comments and support all these years! We truly are loving our new space and can’t wait to share more with you all. We have decided we don’t want to see the old house torn down … but would like to see the new finished home they create in that space! The builders who bought our house were so nice!
Can’t wait to see your new place! I loved your old home…I was smitten with the changes you made…but it sounds like the timing was perfect for you to move on. Looking forward to new pics! Enjoy your day! 😉
Thanks Donnamae! And for all your support over the years! We are really loving this new space and I can’t wait to decorate and share it with you all! It’s been fun … and exhausting … and sad … and happy! 🙂
