Chicago Kitchen Condo Reveal … and Knowing Your Angles

June 10, 2025 By Linda 4 Comments

Chicago Kitchen Condo Reveal – White Cabinets, Quartz Countertops, Polished Chrome Bridge Faucet, Wood Floors, Polished Chrome Knobs, Brass and White Globe Ceiling Light

I’m going to date myself here …

but do you remember The Rosie O’Donnell show? Her daytime talk show show?

I don’t recall watching. The show was on during the years where I either worked full time or was having babies and running around after toddlers. Life was hectic and cartoons ruled the day.

But I do recall two things about the show. First, Rosie was always talking about Tom Cruise. Like crushing on him big time.

The second was the infamous much-hyped Barbara Streisand interview. A real catch because Babs rarely did/does interviews.

If ever.

I also recall that The Rosie O’Donnell Show completely rearranged the set so that Barbara’s left profile would be on camera. Not her right profile.

Never her right profile.

Because Barbara knew her angles.

And Rosie O’Donnell respected those angles.

So what does Rosie and Babs and angles have to do with this kitchen renovation? Because taking pictures of our new kitchen in our new condo made me realize I don’t know our new home’s angles.

After 14 years in our old house, I knew exactly where the camera should be placed to capture her best angles.

And now I’m starting all over from scratch.

I think it’s time to jump in here with a kitchen before shot. Because the entrance to the kitchen was this small doorway that used to have a swinging door (my contractor had removed it before I could get a picture).

And after we opened up most of the wall, here’s the after …

And one more before: This time of the cabinet on the right and the wall it butted up against.

After removing the wall, my amazing contractor suggested a waterfall edge at the end of the counter. And now we have what I think of as our non-island island.

Now back to our angles. Or lack thereof.

Needless to say, I’m still trying to figure out the kitchen angles.

Needless to say, I ended up with an overabundance of photos that I needed to sort through.

Needless to say, this blog post is very photo heavy.

My apologies.

I mean, it only took me 10 years to finally figure out the angles in our former house. 😉

And as a final needless to say, it might take me a few years to figure out the best angles of our new condo …

sigh.

🙂

So wonderful to see you on craft schooling sunday again, and LOVE that waterfall counter, stunning! I just purchased a bunch of those magnetic hooks and am using them in a 1 8 scale dollhouse made in a metal cabinet to hang lights and sconces, so much fun. Hope you don’t mind my designer eye, one thing does pop out in the gorgeous photos, and that is the end of the microwave, maybe make it look like stainless steel? (I originally was thinking white, but that might be strange, you could get some white contact paper and see……)

I’m so happy to be back blogging after a way too long absence! I love those magnetic hooks (saw them on someone’s instragram story) and rushed out to buy some! I use them on the side of the fridge to store keys, etc. As for the microwave, I did discuss that with my contractor and we could come up with a good solution. I did try to put magnets on a picutre frame and stuck it on but it did fall! I worry about paint because of the stovetop. I do have more black pieces in my dining room so it’s not as stark when taken in context of the rest of the rooms! 🙂 Linda
