Summer Simmer Pot Recipe – Citrus Simmer Pot Recipe – Easy Simmer Pot.

I’ve never lived in a high rise building.
Until now.
But I have visited my fair share over the years. Especially during our recent Chicago condo search.
And one thing that always struck me about high rise buildings are the smells. The minute the elevator door opens, it greets you.
Okay, more like assaults you.
Sometimes it’s good. Like 1% of the time sometimes. 😉 Most of the time it’s, well …
not so bueno.

And I’ll admit, the smells thing was a trepidition about moving into a high rise building. Along with the potential elevator claustrophobia thing. And fear of heights thing.
Hmmm …
doesn’t sound like I’m much of a high rise building person does it? Lol.
But when we visited the building we currently live in, I wasn’t assaulted with smells. Probably because our hallway is short. Very short. There are only three units on our floor.
Let units = less smells. I assumed. Or presumed?

Digging deeper, when reading the HOA rules and regulations there’s a rule about smells. Seriously. I’m not kidding. There’s an HOA rule specifically about using the exhaust fan while cooking.
Simple enough.
But when it comes to smells I like to go a step further. Beyond the exhaust fan use. With the employ of candles and simmer pots.
Like this summery simmer pot, which is subtle but effective. And uses easy to find ingredients:
Summer Simmer Pot Recipe

Ingredients:
Limes
Lemons
Mint
Rosemary
Vanilla Bean
Vanilla Extract (optional)
Flowers/flower petals (optional)
Instructions:
Slice the lemons and limes. Add to a pot with water. Sprinkle in the vanilla bean, extract, mint and rosemary. Add flower petals (optional) to make it pretty. Bring to a boil. And then turn down to simmer.
That’s it.
Oh, and our condo is on the sixth floor of this 28-floor high rise building. Which keeps my elevator claustrophobia and fear of heights trepiditions in check. 🙂
