Spring Break

Dear Facebook Friends,

You’re killing me.

One happy Spring Break vacation post at a time.

There you are in a tank top and shorts smiling wide with one arm flung around your “girl” and the other toasting (or is that taunting) me with your fruity-umbrella-garnished drink.

There you are smiling wide in Times Square, waving your Broadway show playbill at me.

There you are scaling some ancient ruin in an exotic European locale.

There you are sitting in a teacup at Walt Disney World, arms enveloping your sun-kissed tow headed kids.

There you are lined up atop a snowy mountain, just before skiing down the double diamond trail.

There you are flanked by your five kids as you eat beignets in the French Quarter.

There you are sipping your morning coffee at an outdoor café against a backdrop of clear blue skies and palm trees.

There you are at an all-inclusive resort in Cancun, showing me the early morning ocean view from your balcony.

Sigh.

And here I am at home. In overcast Chicago. Enduring a week of damp 40 and 50 degree weather as I clean out closets and paint mason jars and spend hours upon hours waiting for the DMV to process the IL state ID my daughter needs for her upcoming 8th grade class trip to Washington, D.C.

And each and every one of your fabulous Spring Break vacation posts is like a dagger through my heart.

And in-between the closet cleaning and mason jar painting and waiting endlessly at the DMV, I’m also creating some new mason jar listings for the Etsy shop. Like these Spring Break inspired painted mason jars with daisies.

I share a full tutorial on how I made them here. Or, you can just let me make them for you (order here).

All in all, this is not a fabulous Spring Break vacation.

Certainly nothing worthy of a Facebook post …

🙂

Hey, at least there’s no snow! (Have I jinxed us?) Watching the daffodils bloom, buying a dish of purple pansies (Home Depot has tons), putting new wreath on front door has helped with my “Chicago, you’re killing me” blues. Next year it just may be you taking selfies at the beach.

    Linda,
I am right here with you in Chicagoland with our dreary storm filled days. At least it is not snow! Love the mason jars too cute!

I hear you! It’s raining sheets! Hang in there.

I was in your area the other night-took my daughter to Tango Sur for her birthday dinner. We need to meet up this summer!

So you don’t want to see the photo of my kids playing in the swimming pool over Easter? 🙂 Haha. To be fair it is officially Autumn here, but we’ve had a very long summer. It’s just starting to cool down now and soon it will be winter and our temperatures will drop to an average 20C (68F) Hahahahaha..sorry, I’m being wicked. I couldn’t help myself. We’ve had heaps of late wet season rain though.
Hope you enjoyed the school break anyway.

And this morning it was in the 30s in Connecticut and felt that way all day due to windchill! I spent the morning at the doctor’s with my 5 year old grandson and his 4th ear infection in 4 months AND this time a stomach bug to boot! Dreary Chicago is sounding pretty good. Lol! I need a warm beach and a pitcher of peach sangria! When do we leave?!

Besides the “less than ideal temps/weather” wherever you are, it is Spring. We’ve had gale force winds so bad could hardly walk outside let alone hang laundry, drat. People keep burning their yards despite the winds, duh. What part of “don’t burn if even a breeze” don’t they get? 23 acres of somebody else’s property burned this week due to not paying attention to air currents out there. Usually if there’s even a breeze it will turn into full scale gale force winds in little while.
From reading comments above doesn’t sound like it’s being an ideal pleasant sunny Spring in many parts of our country.
I’d love to be at Lake Havasu where it’s just right, at least for now. Have an RVer friend staying there til early May. When we lived in San Diego we used to go to Havasu in September for our vacation, still pretty hot – 100 or so- but at least no 135 as it is in June-August. We had boat in those days, sure miss our boat.
Try to have good weekend We’re supposed to have rain/winds.

Hi do you find if you paint it on with a brush it leaves brush marks?

That is the base blue colour – obviously not the flowers

I definitely use “matte” paint because the brush marks don’t show as much — but, yes, you can see brush marks if you look closely. But that’s the beauty of distressing them. Because they aren’t suppose to be perfect! 🙂
