what’s black and white and red all over?

May 23, 2012 By Linda 30 Comments

The newspaper, you say?

Used to be.  But not anymore.  Well, not anymore for the Chicago Tribune.  They use color photos liberally in their coverage these days … and let’s not forget about the Sunday funnies …

A book?

It could be the right answer if you were reading that black and white and red all over book right here …

union_jack_pillow_black_and_white_and_front_porch

… resting against my black and white Union Jack drop cloth pillow …

union_jack_black_and_white_pillow

… that sits on the rocker …

union_jack_pillow_black_and_white_porch

… that sits on the front porch …

union_jack_pillow_black_and_white

… that I recently made over for Summer.

See that frame?

picture_frame_monogram_wreath_black_and_white_and_red

Yes.  That frame.  That frame that’s framing out the B?  Our family’s B monogram?

picture_frame_monogram_wreath_red_black_white

That’s the $.99 frame I found last week at Salvation Army.

See those pots?

terracotta_pots_aged_on_steps

Those terracotta pots?

terracotta_pots_aged_and_black_and_white

The ones with the bright red geraniums?

terracotta_pots_geraniums

The very same pots I aged here last week?

terracotta_pots_aged_and_painted_black_and_white

I just couldn’t leave them alone …

terracotta_pot_aged_and_painted

So I dressed them up with paint …

terracotta_pot_with_geranium

Have you caught on that the black and white and red color scheme I’ve got going on here is the very same color scheme that I pinned on my inspiration here …?

My Homes.com Spring Into The Dream Pinterest board …

The very same Pinterest board I created for the Homes.com Pinterest contest?  The one where I’m competing against 24 other bloggers for a $500 Visa gift card for me …

… and a $500 Visa gift card for you too?

The very same contest where if I win the $500 gift card I get a second $500 to give to one of you …

The very same contest that is still open and will remain so until Friday, May 25 at 11:59 PM ET? Update:  The contest is now closed.

The very same contest that you can learn more about by clicking here …

And now that my black and white and red all over front porch is pulled together, I may finally find some time to settled into that Union Jack pillowed rocker …

2012 front porch 2

… and finally read some black and white and soon-to-be read all over novels …

2012 summer front porch

And please don’t let those pretty potted geraniums catch wind of this post about my Spring porch … otherwise I may come home one day and find them sitting on my neighbor’s porch …

Linda, this looks fantastic and I love the flower pots. Geraniums seem to grow really well in Chicago, I had some planted last year and come fall dug them up, shock off the soil and bagged them in brown paper bags in the garage. I planted them out a few weeks ago and they are doing wonderfully. You could have plants for life!
