Nutella Dessert Recipe Idea: Nutella Mousse Peanut Butter Cups.

Nutella Dessert Recipe in Mason Jars

Sometimes something is so big …

So amazing …

So monumental …

That it can’t be contained in a single blog post.  That alone cannot do it justice.  Because it needs to be spread far.  And wide.

And that is why this post …

and this awesome nutella dessert recipe …

Which I first published over the weekend on my Mason Jar Crafts Love blog is getting an encore performance here.  On it all started with paint.

Big Heaping Spoonfuls

NUTELLA MOUSSE PEANUT BUTTER CUPS

(Makes 8 servings in 1/2 pint-sized mason jars)

Ingredients

1/4 cup Nutella

1 1/4 cup milk ~ fat free or 1% milk (don’t use whole)

1/4 cup sugar

1 packet instant chocolate pudding (1.34 oz. box)

chocolate wafers (2 cups crushed)

3 TBS peanut butter

1 cup butter

Cool Whip (8 oz. for mousse; extra for topping)

Step 1: Peanut Butter Crust

Pulverize one package of chocolate wafers (I put them in a Ziploc bag and crushed with a rolling pin; you can do the same much faster if you have a food processor).

Mix 2 cups of the crushed wafers with melted butter (nuked in microwave), sugar and 2 heaping tablespoon-fuls of peanut butter.

Layer generously into bottom of mason jars and bake in oven at 375 degrees for 10-minutes.

Step 2: Nutella Mousse Filling

Whisk dry instant chocolate pudding mix with 1 1/4 cup of fat free or 1% milk vigorously for 2 minutes.  Add in 1/4 cup of Nutella and whisk for another 1-2 minutes.  Add in 1/2 of Cool Whip (4 oz.) and whisk for another 2-3 minutes.

Gently fold in remaining Cool Whip.

{You should use a spatula for this step, not a whisk}

Pour mixture into jars on top of peanut butter crust; chill for 2-4 hours.

Step 3: Dress & Serve

Serve with dollop of Cool Whip; top with crushed chocolate wafer crumbs and Reese’s peanut butter chips.

And I’d be remiss if I didn’t give credit to Something Swanky for her amazing Simple Chocolate Mousse recipe, which I modified to include a big heaping scoop of Nutella!

You can absolutely make this recipe without any peanut butter and it will be equally as delicious!

I found the peanut butter in the crust overpowered the rest of the dessert. I used the recommended amount of Nutella, but couldn’t taste it all. Maybe. Used a bit too much cool whip.

I found this website and have LOVED it!!! I tried a couple recipes this past weekend. I just wanted to find out if the crust takes 2 cups of butter. That seems to be a lot of butter. I wondered if it was a typo. Thanks so much!

I actually used 1 cup (or one stick) of butter for the recipe.

Isn’t 1 stick normally 1/2 cup of butter?
